We believe the actions we take today determine the future our children and grandchildren will experience here on this beautiful planet we call home. That is why we at Powis aim to be a net positive contributor to our planet and humanity. These values have long been held by our President & Founder, Kevin Parker.

Powis is currently in the process of shifting the business and factory to 100% solar powered (and aims to do this by 2024). We feel this big step is one of the biggest and most important things we can do as a company. We aim to move to post-consumer recycled packaging solutions, as well once the post Covid-19 supply chains are stabilized.

Curbside Recyclable

Curbside Recyclable means an item is commonly accepted in curbside recycling programs. When a bound document is recycled, the paper fibers that went into the binding strip as well as the bound pages can be used again in new goods. This reduces the need for virgin materials to be produced and means the item can skip the landfill (the resources that go into landfill become noxious methane emissions instead of valuable renewed items).

The Forest Stewardship Council forest management certification confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability. Non-Toxic Adhesive

Powis uses non-toxic glues with low VOC and almost no odor (no PCBs). Non-toxic means is that the product contains no ingredients that have been linked to toxic responses in humans; things like hormone disruption, poisoning, or cancer. Many adhesives are made with chemicals like formaldehyde, BPA and phthalates that harm health—Powis is committed to ONLY using non-toxic adhesives.

Powis Factory Runs on 100% Greenhouse Gas Free Energy 

At Powis, we are shifting the factory energy to 100% sustainable sources in the next two years. While we are in the process of transitioning, we are pleased to share that we are already operating on 100% Greenhouse Gas free energy. As of 2019, our energy mix generally includes:

• 29% Renewable
• 27% Large Hydro
• 44% Nuclear

As the fifth largest economy in the world, California is doing a remarkable job in moving towards a clean, sustainable energy grid. In fact, on April 30, 2022, renewables met ALL of California’s energy needs for the first time ever! At that time, the state’s overall production of renewables hit a peak at 18,629 megawatts, comprised of:

• 66% Solar
• 25% Wind
• Remainder included Geothermal, Biomass, Biogas + Hydro
